Loctite 770 – primer – is designed for preparing polyolefins and other low-energy surfaces for bonding with Loctite cyanoacrylate adhesives. On such treated surfaces, the curing results of cyanoacrylate adhesives are generally similar to those described in the technical data sheets for the relevant adhesives. It is recommended only for difficult-to-bond substrates, which include polyethylene, polypropylene, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), and thermoplastic rubber materials. The polyolefin primer is not recommended for assemblies where high peel strength is required. It is used in combination with all Loctite instant adhesives, especially with Loctite 406, 460, 496. The primer is a coating applied to the bonded surface before applying the adhesive and helps to create adhesion of the adhesive to the surface (especially on difficult-to-bond materials).
